Maintenance Technician

This is a full-time salaried position, with excellent benefits and competitive compensation.

This position is offered based in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

The Maintenance Technician is an industrial shop-based role that works in a team environment to assist in the repair, maintenance, and development of equipment.  The successful candidate will support the LiftWerx team in maintaining and repairing existing equipment.  The role also requires the candidate to assist with the development of new specialized crane systems for the wind energy industry.

The Maintenance Technician reports to the Technical Manager.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Positive attitude.
  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • 2-5 years of experience with welding & fitting, hydraulic assembly, and general rigging work.
  • Able to work independently, without supervision.
  • Able to trouble-shoot mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Must be proficient in the use of hand tools, welding equipment, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Valid “G” Driver’s License such or equivalent, and good driving record required.  A commercial “DZ” or “AZ” Driver’s license (or equivalent) would also be a tremendous asset, but is not absolutely required.
  • Must be able to work well in a team setting, with a strong teamwork attitude.
  • Ability to drive forklifts, both mast-type and variable-reach-type, mainly for shipping and receiving activities.
  • Ability to independently fit, weld, repair, and fabricate components, generally from mild steel.
  • Ability to assemble, trouble-shoot, and repair hydraulic systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Company Description:

LiftWerx is an engineering-based contractor which specializes in complex logistics and heavy-lift technology. LiftWerx offers both specialized equipment and experienced technicians to perform corrective repairs on a wide variety of wind turbines. The majority of lifting services are performed using up-tower crane technology, which avoids the high cost and disruption of utilizing large conventional cranes on the ground.

Job Description:

Major Corrective Technician (full-time)

Location:

This is a traveling position.  The successful candidate(s) will travel extensively to worksites across the USA and Canada.  Candidates can be based in either Canada or the continental USA, preferably close to a major airport.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

The Wind Turbine Technician is a field-based, customer-facing role that performs major corrective repairs on wind turbines. This includes the complete replacement of wind turbine gearboxes as well as the completion of up-tower gearbox repairs. In addition to providing corrective repairs to turbine equipment, the Wind Turbine Technician installs, operates, maintains, and mobilizes specialized up-tower lifting devices at customer sites. The successful candidate will establish and maintain proper business relationships with customers and peers, as well as performing necessary administrative duties accurately.

This position reports to the LiftWerx Field Supervisor.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • 2-5 years of field service experience is required. Previous experience performing operations, maintenance, or corrective repairs on Siemens, General Electric, or Vestas turbines will be a tremendous asset.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A Liftra CO1+ crane operator’s certificate is highly-valued but it not absolutely necessary.
  • Must be proficient in the use of tools and specialized equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. A commercial truck driver’s license will be an asset, although not absolutely required.
  • Must be able to work both individually and in an established team setting.
  • Willing to work different shifts as business needs dictate, including willingness to work long shifts as required.
  • Ability to travel and provide service across North America; willingness to participate in an on-call rotation after training and certification.

Location:

This is a traveling position.  The successful candidate(s) will travel extensively to worksites across the USA and Canada.  The candidate shall be based in Canada or the continental USA, preferably near a major airport.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

The Driving/Rigging Specialist is a field-based role that works in a team environment assisting in the performance of major corrective repairs on wind turbines. This person will be responsible for driving our highly specialized equipment to site, setting up work site, assist in all rigging activities and ground support throughout major component replacements, and any other assistance as may be required. The successful candidate will establish and maintain proper business relationships with customers and peers, as well as performing necessary administrative duties accurately.

This position reports to the LiftWerx Field Supervisor.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • 2-5 years of driving and/or rigging experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in the use of tools and specialized equipment.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License such as AZ driver’s license, Class 1, or equivalent, and good driving record required.
  • Must be able to work well in a team setting.
  • Willing to work different shift including on a rotation schedule, as required.
  • Ability to travel and provide service across North America; willingness to participate in an on-call rotation after training and certification.
