Here’s a photo of the world’s first offshore-rated up-tower crane.

This new GenHook™ crane is in the final assembly process at KenzFigee‘s facilities in the Netherlands. Rated at a lifting capacity of 30 tonnes, this crane can be mounted on wind turbine towers which are up to 135 metres in height.

This crane has been designed for use in offshore environments, on offshore wind turbines rated between 1.5MW and 10MW. It’s perfectly sized for the following types of large corrective exchanges:

– Single-piece gearbox exchanges, in the 1.5MW to 3MW range
– Two-piece gearbox exchanges, in the 3MW to 5MW range
– Generator exchanges, in the 1.5MW to 10MW range
– Transformer exchanges

GenHook™ cranes can also be used to install LiftWerx’s RotorHook™ and BoxHook™ cranes, which are rated at 75 tonnes and 100 tonnes respectively. These larger up-tower cranes can perform main shaft and gearbox exchanges in large wind turbines rated up to 10MW.

This particular GenHook™ crane can naturally be used for onshore applications as well, and will be the first crane of its kind in the European market.
