Job Description:

Project Engineer (full-time)

Location:
This position is based at our facilities in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. On a regular basis, the successful candidate(s) will be required to travel to worksites to evaluate work procedures and processes, obtain measurements, develop new design concepts, and commission new equipment.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

The Project Engineer is primarily an office-based role that is responsible for day-to-day engineering activities, generally relating to the creation of operations documentation (lift plans, work procedures, etc.), mechanical design, and logistics, with the goal of optimizing operational processes. Regular travelling to worksites across North America is a requirement where the Project Engineer is responsible for activities relating to work procedure creation, work procedure evaluation, equipment commissioning and equipment testing.

The Project Engineer will apply engineering knowledge and engineering judgement to ensure documents are accurate, reliable and presentable and to ensure designs are safe, reliable, and effective. The successful candidate will establish and maintain relationships with other engineering staff, field personnel, shop staff, management, and other office staff.

This position reports to the Operations Engineering Lead.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

– Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar.
– 1-2 years of experience in a process-oriented engineering role
– Experience with engineering design, including design to code, finite element analysis, CAD and drafting are an asset.
– Specific skills related to cranes, welded and formed steel structures, aluminum structures, machining, heavy equipment, hydraulics, electronics, controls, and logistics as it relates to engineering and operations are an asset.
– Valid driver’s license (class G or equivalent) and good driving record required.
– Possession of a valid passport and ability to freely travel between Canada and the United States.
– Must be able to work both individually and in an established team setting.
– Hands-on experience working with tools, machinery, heavy equipment, or vehicles, at a professional or hobby level is an asset.
– Ability to travel and provide service across North America.
