LiftWerx recently completed the replacement of a wind turbine yaw drive and motor assembly on a GE 1.6 MW turbine. Working in cold and snowy winter conditions in Northern Ontario, LiftWerx used an innovative rigging device to safely remove a portion of the nacelle roof. Two lightweight up-tower cranes were then installed in the nacelle, which were used to exchange the yaw drive. Another great job by our fantastic crew!
This type of project would have normally required the use of a large mobile crane on the ground. Why mobilize a 300-ton mobile crane for these types of lifts when a small and efficient up-tower crane will easily do the job? Please contact LiftWerx for more details.
